15 months already and I never even posted a recap of Maria's first birthday. Ooops! Well, her birthday was awesome and she was celebrated by all of her wonderful friends and family. As you can see in the previous post, she LOVED her cake and luckily didn't end up with tummy ache! So, now that we're at the 15 month mark, I wanted to write a quick update with her stats and start a list of words that she is using.

Eleven Months

Only one more month until the big BIRTHDAY! I know I say it all the time, but I seriously cannot believe how much she has changed and how fast these last 11 months have gone by. Maria, you are a joy and a treasure to Mommy and Daddy!

Lately

  • Maria knows "duck" and can make a quack sound. So adorable.
  • Last night was the 4th of July; Maria completely slept through all of the fireworks including the *very* loud city show that takes place in the park behind our house.
  • We had Maria dedicated by her Grandpa on June 27th. It was amazing. God is amazing.
  • We drove from Pullman to Graham, from Graham to Portland, from Portland to Government Camp and back to Portland, and then from Portland to Pullman. Not fun with an almost-11-month old.
  • Just noticed that Maria has at least one more tooth coming in on top; possibly two. That might explain some of the miserable car ride(s).
  • Our friends Katie and Aaron came over on the 4th and we had a great time. They are seriously so fun to be around.
  • Maria is taking more and more steps on her own. She is so brave.
  • Our trip to Government Camp gave us the opportunity to take a 5-generation picture with Tim's great-grandmother who is 98 years old. Special memories were made for all of us.
  • I need to post more pictures, but I haven't uploaded them to my computer yet. And it's already time for Maria's 11-month update. Where does the time go?

Ten Months

Ten months and ten times the entertainment! Maria is EVERYWHERE these days and into EVERYTHING! Never a dull moment in our home. She has 4 teeth and her hair is growing by the day. She's still cruising around the furniture (and anything else she can hold on to), but the first steps are soon to follow. Lately, she has been practicing her balance and enjoying walking with mom and dad holding her hands. So close! Pretty soon she'll be an official "toddler." Such an amazing little girl!

Nine Months

Maria's nine-month birthday has already come and gone and it seems like SO much has changed in just one month! After her check-up yesterday, she is measuring at 19lbs. 7oz. and 27.25 inches long. She is average according to the doctor, but we think she's extraordinary! Her squishy, little body is so fun to snuggle; the pudginess too adorable to ignore. Lately she is crawling like mad all over the house. She is starting to follow us when we move from room to room and getting into all kinds of things. Her favorite "no-no" are cords. I'm not sure what makes them so interesting, but she will seek them out time and time again. If crawling wasn't enough, now she is pulling up everywhere and starting to cruise along the furniture. I'm pretty sure that she'll be walking by 10 months! Wow - are we ready for that??! Needless to say, we are having the time of our life with this precious girl and can't wait to see what she does next!

Eight Months

Again, I am a few days late posting Maria's 8-month update, but it's never too late to post pictures of this adorable face! I just love this picture of her! Now that she is 8 months old, I realize that we only have 4 months until her first birthday and it seems so surreal. Each month has gotten easier for Tim and I and each month we enjoy her more and more. She is developing such an amazing personality. Right now she is extremely close to crawling, but she gets around well by scooting and crawling backwards. She entertains herself plenty by playing with toys on the floor and trying to reach things she shouldn't have! Just 3 days ago she started saying "Mamamama" and it was the sweetest sound I've ever heard! "Dada" definitely came first, so I'm relishing every "Mama" I hear! We have been trying some new foods lately too, like banana puffs (which are hard for her to grasp still) and tonight she tried some grated mozzarella cheese and seemed to like it. She is a great eater. I'm looking forward to giving her yogurt because I love it so much. Pretty soon we will be past this whole baby food thing and it seems like we just started. Tim and I couldn't be more proud of our little girl. She is seriously a joy to be around!

Happy Easter

This Easter was wonderful and especially so now that we have our beautiful little bunny to celebrate with. I should clarify that I'm talking about Maria, but Oliver makes a pretty cute bunny as well! My mom was in town visiting, so she joined us for church and took plenty of pictures of Maria in her Easter dress. Tim suggested we buy her a dress and then also picked it out himself, which made it all the more special. We ended up having a delicious dinner that night of ham, asparagus, homemade rolls (Mom, Kathy's recipe!), deviled eggs, scalloped potatoes, and apple crisp. Our friend (and neighbor), Sara joined us for dinner as well as my cousin, Tyler who is a freshman at WSU. What a celebration it was. We are so thankful to know and love our Savior, Jesus Christ! We're also thankful that He is risen and He is coming again!

Welcome Back!

I realize most of you are visiting this blog because you received an email inviting you to do so. This is because I decided to make our family blog private and now only those whom I invite are able to view it. The pictures I post and stories I tell are just too personal and precious to share with the world. I'm glad all of you are interested enough to stop by every now and then and I hope you continue doing just that. Now that I have my computer up and running again, I hope to get back into posting the daily photos once a week and of course, will be posting Maria's monthly updates. Thanks for stopping by and putting up with the incovenience of signing in!
Love,
Laci

Seven Months

Has it been 7 months already?? Maria is growing up right before our eyes and she is such a joy to us. This last month has been especially fun because she is becoming so expressive and vocal. She now eats 2 solid meals a day and has devoured almost everything we've given her (as long as it's not green). She sits on her own and plays games like peek-a-boo and copy cat. The big news, though, is that she started sleeping through the night consistently! Amen to that! Since I've gone back to work part-time, Tim watches Maria in the morning and that has created such a precious bond between them. She absolutely lights up when she sees her daddy and it melts my heart every time. We are so blessed to have such a good girl!

Woe Is Me

To the few of you who actually check this blog on a regular basis, I apologize for the lack of posts lately. For my recollection and to garner some sympathy, here is my last month in a nutshell:
  • Tim left for Australia for 9 days.
  • My hard-drive crashed while he was gone, and so far, I've lost everything (but I'm still working on recovering important files, especially pictures of Maria!)
  • Maria got her first cold and eye infection.
  • Tim came home!
  • I started my new part-time job
  • I got sick.
  • Maria's cold came back (or it never left)
  • Now Tim is sick.
The last month has been spent in and out of the doctor's office, on the phone with the computer people and taking care of my family. If there is a moral to this sob-story, it would be to back up your computer quickly and often if you can't bear the thought of losing the files you have on it. Hopefully my story has a happy ending :)

Six Months

I apologize that this post is over a week late, but my hard drive decided to crash last week. It just so happens that it was when Tim was in Australia, which made it ten times worse considering we were communicating solely by email and Skype. It's still not fixed yet, but Timmy is kind enough to share his computer with me :) Without further ado, here is our little bird at 6 months old:

She is currently 17 lbs. 10 oz. and 26 inches long! Such a healthy and happy girl! Her newest tricks are to sit up on her own, say "dada," make seagull sounds (!), grab and chew on just about everything, and finally, laughing A LOT. The laughter coming from her cute, little face is pretty much the most adorable sound I have ever heard. She is such a doll!

Project Life: January 25th-31st

Another fun week of pictures!

Maria "sharing" her teething ring with Oliver!

Maria likes to suck her thumb/fingers sometimes after a bite of food. Cute, but messy!

Cute, little baby feet hanging from the jumperoo. The laptop case helps when her toes can't quite reach.

Super fun mail from cousin Rachel in Vancouver.

"This baby's gonna get you!" (Everyone's favorite game)

Maria wants some of mommy's water.

Precious baby girl sometimes falls asleep while eating before bedtime. Love the pouty lips.

Project Life: January 18th-24th

I hope everyone is enjoying these weekly snapshots as much as I am! I just ordered my Project Life kit from Amazon, so now the real fun begins.

Tim and I took this picture to send to his grandparents. They bought us this sign for our 5th wedding anniversary.

Took Maria and Oliver for a walk in the park since it was so beautiful outside. I could really get used to the life of a stay-at-home mom!

This is Oliver's post for the majority of the day as he stalks the local squirrels. They taunt him constantly!

After a particularly rough morning, nothing makes me feel better than this. (Flowers that Tim bought me for our anniversary in the background)

I couldn't resist taking a picture of my sleeping beauty. So peaceful and sweet. She likes her lovey over her face.

Saturday morning playtime with daddy. I don't know who enjoys it more!

Trying to Skype with Maria's grandparents and Oliver didn't want to be left out. I'm not sure this chair is big enough for all of us!

This week I am linking up with other bloggers who are sharing their Project Life photos. Click on the button below to see them.

Project Life: January 11th-17th

"That baby gets all of the attention," says Oliver.

Tim reading to Maria.

How I found her in her crib first thing Monday morning. (She was put down on her back in a totally different direction!)

Out for a walk on a sunny, winter day.

Maria with her first babysitter (Amy) on the night of our 5th anniversary.

Unsure about the carrots.

Typical evening in the Graciano household once baby is asleep.

Project Life: January 4th-10th

I have decided to chronicle the next year using a brilliant kit called Project Life. Since I have not gotten into traditional scrap-booking, this method is perfect for me. This way, I can tell our story using pictures that I take each day, writing a short entry describing the image, and it will all be kept in a pre-made album. I want to share this story with you as well, so my goal is to post my pictures each week. I hope you enjoy our year in pictures. Here we go!

Tim at a conference in Atlanta.

Waiting for daddy to get home.

Fun in the Jumperoo.

Maria turns 5 months old and she loves her new high chair!

First time rolling over from back to tummy!

Oliver cuddling with the Boppy.

First taste of solid food (rice cereal). Yum!

Five Months

I'm a little late, but last week, our baby bird turned 5 months old! She is seriously getting cuter by the day! We are amazed at all she is learning and how quickly she is developing. She is now rolling over quite well and we started rice cereal on Sunday and she LOVES it. I think we have a healthy eater on our hands, for which we are thankful! Feast your eyes on this:
